Leggings size guide: how to choose the right size first time
Β· LUXIA Fit

To choose the right leggings size, measure your waist and the fullest part of your hips with a soft tape measure, then compare both numbers with the size chart on the product page. If you land between two sizes, let your hip measurement decide, and pick the smaller size for a firmer, more sculpted hold or the larger one for all-day comfort.
Getting it right first time saves you a return, and it changes how your leggings look and feel. Too small and the fabric thins out and can turn see-through when you squat; too big and the waistband slips and the fabric bunches at the knees.
How do I measure myself for leggings?
You need a soft tape measure, a mirror and two minutes. Measure over underwear, not over jeans, and keep the tape snug but not tight.
- Waist: measure around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, usually a little above your belly button. High-waisted leggings sit here, so this number matters.
- Hips: stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your bum. For leggings, this is usually the measurement that decides your size.
- Leg length (optional): if you're very tall or petite, measure from your crotch to your ankle bone along the inside of your leg to see where full-length styles will end.
Write the numbers down in centimetres. Measure twice; if the results differ, use the larger one.
Which size am I in LUXIA Fit leggings?
Our letter sizes follow the size chart on each product page. As a guide:
- S: EU 34β36 Β· waist 61β66 cm Β· hips 89β94 cm
- M: EU 38β40 Β· waist 71β76 cm Β· hips 99β104 cm
- L: EU 42β44 Β· waist 81β86 cm Β· hips 109β114 cm
- XL: above L; check the chart on the product page before you order
Letter sizes differ from brand to brand, so don't just order the letter you wear elsewhere. Your measurements are a better guide than the label on your favourite pair.
What if I'm between two sizes?
Start with your hips, then think about how you'll wear them:
- Compression and lifting styles, like our Lifting Leggings with double-layer fabric and a high, sculpting waistband, feel firm by design. Between sizes? Take the smaller one if you want maximum hold for lifting, and the larger one if you'll wear them all day or don't like feeling squeezed.
- Seamless knits, like our Seamless Leggings, have a lot of four-way stretch. Most women are fine following their hip measurement; size up if your waist is at the top of the range.
- If your waist and hips point to different sizes, go with your hips. A high waistband can give a little at the waist; fabric that is too tight over your hips can't.
If you don't like compression at all, tight leggings may simply not be for you. A flared or looser style will feel better than going up two sizes.
How should leggings fit?
Try them on at home and run these checks before you take the tags off:
- Waistband: stays in place when you bend and squat, without rolling down or digging in.
- Squat test: squat in front of a mirror in good light. If the fabric goes shiny or you can see skin or underwear through it, the size is too small.
- No loose fabric: no wrinkles or bagging at the knees, crotch or behind the knees.
- Seams: side and back seams run straight instead of twisting around your leg.
- Length: full-length styles should reach your ankle; on petite legs a little gathering at the ankle is normal.
Do sizes vary between styles?
Yes, a little. Double-layer, compressive fabrics feel firmer than soft seamless knits in the same size. Some of our winter styles, like the fleece-lined Thermal Leggings, come in two broader sizes, S/M and L/XL, because the lined fabric is more forgiving. Always check the size options and the chart on the page of the pair you want. You can compare several styles side by side in our seamless leggings collection.
